I saw this on Twitter today and thought it described most organizations perfectly.
An organization is like a tree full of monkeys, all on different limbs, at different levels. Some monkeys climbing up, some down. Monkeys on the top look down and see a tree full of smiling faces. The monkeys on the bottom look up and see nothing but assholes!!!
Or maybe I’m just jaded because of my current situation. :)
I have always liked that analogy between the monkeys and the political and executive ramifications of leadership hierarchy. Interesting to me that capitalism, though overall a more favorable approach to a healthy and robust economy, is not without certain saddle sores. Which is why I prefer my saddle sores to come from my Harley-Davidson.
