Curl For Cancer Curling Bonspiel

The Fredericton Curling Club hosted the Curl for Cancer Curling Bonspiel this past Saturday, Jan 12th. I’m proud to say that Team Haggerty, sponsored by TNT Building Supplies, was the top fundraising team, bringing in a total of $1200! While I was not part of the team that did the actual curling, I did contribute to the fundraising. Perhaps next year I’ll be able to make it to the tournament. Grand total (so far) raised by all teams in the event was $18,188 with some money still to come in. This amount far exceeded expectations so all involved were extremely happy! By the way – consider this fair warning that I’ll probably be hitting you up for a donation next year. ;)

Thanks for spreading the word Kevin. It was a great event. Yes, Dana, curling is a lot of fun, and it doesn’t cost much to play either! Sneakers and a sweater and skirts on women (looks best to me but then even that is only one option).
I’m looking for another project .Could I possibly get enough interest to build a curling club in or around Stittsville (if there isn’t on e there already)

Richmond actually has a curling club walking distance from our house…. probably that counts as close to stittsville as well. I know one of my coworkers curled in richmond with her kids and she lived in the west end of ottawa so it must be an ok rink. I will definetly have to look into the program there – ps. i did not know women wore skirts to curl!?!

Well they used to! It started in , where else, Ontario. Short kilts they were with tights. They have all but disappeared. The Jones team out of Nova Scotia now split up were the last unless the old timers that liked the style of the girls suggest that it is an emerging trend!
