Well turns out 6411843 Canada Inc had it in the budget to buy a new computer so a shiny new 20″ iMac is now on the way to my place. It’ll actually take up to three weeks to get it so let the waiting begin. Here are the specs on what I got:
iMac 20-inch 2GHz Intel Core Duo
Part Number: Z0CY
SuperDrive 8x (DVD+R DL/DVD+RW/CD-RW)
ATI Radeon X1600/256MB VRAM
1GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM – 1x1GB
Wireless Keyboard & Mouse + Mac OS X – U.S. English
Accessory kit
250GB Serial ATA drive
Now I just need to pick up a firewire cable so I can tranfer all the data over from the eMac.

Holy smokes! That thing is going to rawk!!!
I hear they have the internet on computers these days. Are Macs internet compatable yet?

No idea where this is coming from and therefore what time zone the tracking results are in. It was after 1000 when I queried the tracking results.
Did you read this?

Thanks for that Andy. I’m happy to see that this guy was quite pleased with his new machine. One thing I didn’t realize (I didn’t really look for it) was that you can use the mini-DVI port to extend the desktop! How sweet is that?!
Hey Fedex! Your tracking results suck! There hasen’t been an update to the results in the last 4 days! Why bother providing online tracking if it doesn’t get updated until after the package has been delivered?!
Naturally, after I curse them out for not updating tracking results, the results get updated:
Jan 26, 2006 10:45 PM At local FedEx facility SHANGHAI CN
Current local time in Shanghai is Friday, January 27, 0100 so it looks like it got there a couple of hours ago. Not sure when it will leave…
This is the first iMac to allow additional monitors to be plugged in. It’s always been easy to run multiple monitors on the Mac, but the lower end ones (e.g. iBook, iMac) have usually had slower video cards that can’t handle this.
If you can find a mini DVI to DVI (or some other combination, depending on what your TV inputs are) you could plug it into your TV.

Can you see any difference (besides the date and time) from the last update?

My mac just got confirmed as “data sent to FedEx” this morning.
Looking at the route it took to get to you (via Anchorage, AK, then TN, then whatever) I have hopes that it can get to Whitehorse faster as it doesn’t have to go south, just east!
Let me know what you think when you get it!
Feb 1, 2006 11:58 AM Delivered OTTAWA, ON
The thing is it wasn’t delivered to my desk. I guess I’ll get it tomorrow.
my spam filter is a bit over zealous these days (my fault really).
Hope it arrives tomorrow.
It’s sitting in a box in my cubicle right now. Actually, it’s inside a box inside a box – I guess to keep the white box clean. :)
Now I’m really anxious to go home and plug this thing in…
