Midweek Semi-long Run

7 Mile Run

I’ve raised the bar for the longest run I’ve done with no breaks – just over 60 minutes now (60:42 I believe). Don’t get me wrong – I’ve done longer runs but those included a few one minute walking breaks in them. Anyways, turns out skipping Tuesday’s run was maybe not such a bad thing. We’ll see if I feel the same way on Saturday for my long run. This week is a stepback week so the long run on Saturday is only 10 miles, which shouldn’t be too much of a problem. [...]

Skipped run

I’m feeling a bit guilty since I skipped my run last night. The only thing I can comfort myself with is the fact that it was a short 3 miler that I skipped and not a longer run. Tonight’s 7 miles is going to be tougher because of it I’m sure but I guess that’s my punishment. A quick update on last week’s training: things went well. No major problems although I will say that I really don’t want to do another 13 mile run on a treadmill! Talk about boring! [...]

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all!

clover

Just a quick post to wish you all a Happy St. Patrick’s day! With St. Patrick’s Day falling on a Friday this year you’d think I’d be all set to celebrate in true Irish fashion, but alas, tis not to be. I’m in the middle of my marathon training and I have a 13 mile run to do tomorrow morning. Add to that the break I’ll probably be taking at the end of this month and I really can’t afford to drink the day away today. It’s ok though – I’ll still be smiling today. [...]

Baby Haggaret

Baby Haggaret

In case you haven’t heard – the Haggerty’s are expecting a new bundle of joy! Yep, that’s right – Amy is pregnant! As you can see here, the little peanut is 12 and a half weeks old. You can clearly see his (or her) head, legs and feet and it looks like he (or she) is waving at us. :)

Expected due date is Sept 26th, which would mean baby haggaret would be born on Dave’s birthday. Hope you don’t mind sharing buddy. [...]

Beautiful Day!

12 and a half mile run

Saturday was a day that just begged for you to blast out U2′s “Beautiful Day” all day long! Got up early (0600) to get ready for a long run with Dave. We ran the route you see in the photo on the right – starting and ending at Dave’s place. At about the midway point of our run, we ended up in the middle of a race that was going on (I believe it was a 10 K race). It was nice to be surrounded by runners though, adding a little motivation to the training – at least for me. [...]

Universal health care? Not quite…

I’m heading to Panama for a friend’s wedding in the near future and as part of my trip planning, I decided that I’d finally get the Hep A and B vaccinations – otherwise known as Twinrix. I got a prescription from my doctor and picked up the shot (it was an actual syringe) at the drugstore. It cost me just over $60 but since it’s not covered by my health plan, not that big of a deal. When I asked if I could give the shot to myself they had a good laugh before telling me that I had to get a doctor / nurse to do it and suggested I visit either the doctor who gave me the prescription or else stop by a drop-in clinic. [...]

Week 6 – Stepback Week

Week 6 Long Run

Another great week of training. I’m even hoping to get in some cross training tomorrow – perhaps a skate on the canal.

Grant and I ran the route that you see on the left. We left from his place, ran to the canal and then beside the canal to Bank St (Lansdown Park). As soon as we turned around it got really windy – or at least that was our theory because we didn’t want to believe that we had run with a tail wind up to that point. [...]
