Well week 2 of the program is over and I’m feeling pretty good. This week’s long run was 7 miles (or 11.2 km). I stopped to walk twice on the run, but the second time was not because of my legs or lungs…it was my shoulder that was really bothering me. I’ve had a problem with my shoulder since may of this year, after hurting it laying out in an Ultimate game. I keep threatening to go to the doctor but never actually make it. Anyways, if it wasn’t for my shoulder bothering me on Saturday, I would have made my goal of one walking break for the whole run. Oh well…I still felt good about it.
This week is going to be tougher. Looks like I’m heading to California on Thursday and may be there for a couple of weeks. Dave will be on his own for at least a week and I hope he continues running without me pushing him – I’m sure he will. We ran separately this past weekend and I haven’t spoken to him yet to see how it went.
I’m hoping to do it today, when I get to my hotel (which is supposed to have a treadmill) in Minneapolis. I was just too busy this weekend to get out, that, and I looked at how far I’d have to run in my neighbourhood to get up to 7 miles and was intensely daunted… But, I like I said, I hope to go tonight for the long run…
Careful Dave…that’s how it starts – saying you’re too busy. That’s the thing about a training program, you have to decide to make time. It’s only going to get tougher from here on in… :)
