Photosets on Flickr

I was going to type up a quick email and send it to Boris since I know he knows a lot about Flickr and I figured he might be able to anwer my question without me having to actually ask the Flickr staff; but then I thought I’d just write up a quick post with my question and see if I get any responses.

Here is what I want to know: Is it possible to create a ‘live’ photoset on Flickr? What I mean by ‘live’ is that it is updated dynamically without my intervention. For instance, I want a photoset of all my photos that are tagged with a certain tag. If I add a new photo and tag it with that tag, then it automatically gets added to the end of the photoset – or ‘tagged on’ if you will. :)

Now I’m willing to admit that I haven’t gone through all the help documentation for Flickr yet to see if this functionality exists. Right now I’m just looking for a quick answer, so does anyone out there know if this is possible?

You can do that already, just view it using the tag URL, e.g. http://www.flickr.com/photos/haggaret/tags/lot62coachman/ — you can even view a slideshow of a tag. The only thing it doesn’t do is show the overview page like sets do…since it’s not actually a set.

And you are right of course, but I still think I’d like to have the functionality. It should be trivial to do since like you said, it’s bascially just browsing by tags but I’d like to have the overview page, and the ability to order the photos as I see fit, so they don’t show up in reverse chronological order all the time. I’ll continue to add things manually for the time being. I did read somewhere that this functionality exists through the Uploadr but since I use the iPhoto plug-in I don’t get to take advantage of it. Oh well.
