My poor dog

Ellie has been limping for a while now, just a little bit, after getting up from sleeping or resting. One she got moving though, she seemed fine and walked normally. I figured that maybe she was just a bit sore or had a pulled muscle or something. In time I expected her to get better, and it seemed like she was.

Well on Tuesday, when I got home from work, there was a note from the dog walker. She noticed that Ellie was limping a bit when she picked her up, but as usual, by the time they got to the park, she seemed fine and was running around with the other dogs. However, at one point, she ran past Petra (the dog walker) on three legs! I called Ellie over to me and sure enough, she wouldn’t put any weight on her left hind leg. Not good.

The next day Amy took Ellie to the vet on Carp Rd. He took a look at her and said that she had snapped a ligament in her knee and that she needed surgery. There were two options, the traditional surgery at $1500 or a new procedure where they carve out her bone which costs $2500. The second procedure just sounds scary!

I’m not a huge fan of this vet, I’ve got the impression from them that they are just after $$ so I opted to get a second opinion. I’ve got an appointment with Bridlewood Animal Hospital tonight. Even if they say the same thing, I think we’ll probably go with them.
