I only had to run 5 miles (8 km) and I took a little inspiration from Steve Meyer for my run today. I talked to Steve yesterday after he read my post which said I was only going to run the half instead of the full marathon. Steve, like Grant, doesn’t follow the 10 and 1 method when running, he just runs until he needs to stop then walks for a bit and then runs again. On his 32 km run on Sunday he only walked 3 times and he finished it in 2 hours and 50 minutes! Nice work Steve!
Anyways, I decided to try out this no walking method for my 5 miles today. I ended up doing the 5 miles in just over 40 minutes (probably 40 minutes and 30 seconds) but I was quite tired afterwards. I really think my body is trying to tell me to slow down right now. I’m sitting here, about 4 hours after my run and my achilles tendon on my right foot is really tight. I haven’t decided if I’ll be running the 8 miles that is scheduled for tomorrow or not. I’m just really tired all the time now (especially so after my runs) and it’s probably because I’m not eating that well.
Note to self…pay more attention to diet when training for a marathon.
