Marathon training – week 7

Week 6:

Mon – rest, Tues – 3, Wed – 6, Thurs – 3, Fri – rest, Sat – cross, Sun – 12

Well as you can see, I moved my long run to Sunday this week. I ended up having a few beers on Friday night, and then a few more beers on Saturday so I didn’t really feel like running on Saturday.

I feel like my body has been taking a real beating in the last seven weeks. It’s likely a combination of the training and not eating that great, plus running on crappy old sneakers. I think I’ll buy a new pair before my next long run.

The run I did yesterday was without a doubt the toughest run I’ve done yet. It’s weired because I don’t remember having that much trouble with the 10 miles I did a couple of weeks ago.

I’ve been toying with the idea of taking a week off, to let my body recuperate a bit before continuing on with the training. I’ve got a week to spare (maybe even two) so it shouldn’t affect my training. The thing is, I’m not even half way though this program yet so I’d kind of like to keep going. This weekend coming is a 13 mile run, basically a half marathon so perhaps I’ll do that and then take a week off.

I’ll say one thing…that goal of 3:45 is looking might tough right now. I’m getting more and more respect for Steve the further I get with this training program!
