Marathon training – week 6

Week 6:

Mon – rest, Tues – 3, Wed – 5, Thurs – 3, Fri – rest, Sat – 7, Sun – cross

A relatively easy week really. I was glad for the stepback on Saturday though. I normally do my runs in the evenings, but this Saturday I did my long run in the early afternoon. I had eaten lunch at around noon or so and didn’t start my run until about twenty after one so I figured I’d be ok. Well, I’m not sure if it was because I ran too soon after eating or what, but about a mile into the run I was hurting (my stomache anyways). I finished up the run but never really felt much better for the rest of the day. In fact I ended up going to bed early (around 2230) on a Saturday night when the wife was away. :)

My only other explanation for feeling so crappy after my run on Saturday was the rum and coke I drank on Friday night. Darcy came over for a few hours and I had a few drinks. If that’s the case, I don’t think I’ll drink again until after the marathon, at least not on the night before a long run.

This week my long run is 12 miles and then next week I’ll be doing a half marathon distance for my long run. Looking forward to that!
