Week 4:
Mon – rest, Tues – 3, Wed – 4, Thurs – 3, Fri – rest, Sat – 9, Sun – cross
I’m not gonna lie – the 9 mile run on Saturday was relatively tough. I was doing pretty good until about mile 7, then my left knee started bothering me. The last 1/4 mile was tough, but I managed it. I stuck with my plan of taking a 30 second waking break after every 2 miles. My reasoning for this is that for the marathon there is a water station every 3 kms (which is approximately 2 miles) and so I plan to walk through each water station.
It took me 90:45 to do the 9 miles on Saturday. I actually felt ok afterwards, but like I said, my left knee was bothering me a bit. Even today, as I write this, my left knee is a little stiff. Kind of feels like I banged it or something. Hopefully by Tuesday it’ll be feeling better.
My shins have been holding up quite well, but I’ve been making sure to stretch them after every run. I’ve also only been running on the treadmill so far, so I’m curious how they will hold up once I start running outside.
I really need to get some new sneakers….
