It’s been a long while since I posted anything so I figured I owed it to myself to post something.
I went on my first bike ride this year, in fact my first bike ride in a long while. I had to dig the bike out of the garage and then after a trip to the service station to pump up the tires (I really need to get one of those cheap air compressors from CT) I was good to go.
There were a more than a couple of reasons for my bike ride. First off…I’m just coming off three weeks of watching the Tour De France so lets say the idea was well planted in my mind. I was supposed to go biking with Trev and Grant yesterday but I bailed on them because I was way too tired. I was feeling pretty guilty about that so there’s reason number two. Reason number three is my general lack of being in anything that even remotely resembles ‘good shape’ since my marathon training.

Dave and I are looking for a tool for moving pictures from Gallery to Flickr!. Anyone out there know of such a tool?
I figure it doesn’t exist or else Boris would know about it and have used it already. I don’t know about Dave, but I’ve got close to 8000 photos on my gallery and it would be nice to have an automated tool for moving them. Of course I could just leave them where they are, but then I don’t get the advantages tha

The reasons why I love Flickr! just keep growing.
With my old gallery I had to create albums. That wasn’t so bad, I created them in chronological order and gave each one a title that was appropriate for the photos inside. But I always seemed to have the odd photo here and there that just didn’t fit into an album. I ususally ended up creating a ‘miscellaneous’ album and sticking the photos in there, but then that didn’t really follow the chronological order I was going for.
Well now with Flickr, instead of creating albums, all of my photos simply go into my ‘photostream’.

So the power went out about three times yesterday, each time for maybe a few seconds. It was enough to knock out my server again, and this time it didn’t seem to want to come back up. I did a little screwing around with it last time it was doing this and it seemed like the power supply wasn’t supplying enough power to spin up the new drive, or at least that was my guess.
Today at work there were a couple of BCMs that had ‘bad’ power supplies. On the 5 volt rail the power supply is supposed to give out at least 4.7 volts and on one of our systems it was dipping below 4.7 every once in a while. This of course was causing alarm LEDs to light up, so we had to replace it. The old power supply would have gone in the garbage so I decided to take it home instead.

You may have noticed the new Flickr Photos block on the left column on this page. Well I am soo onboard with flickr now! Boris told me about Flickr a long time ago and I signed up for a free account but never really did anything with it because I had my own gallery on my server.
Meanwhile Boris kept uploading photos like mad and I think he even decommissioned his own gallery (yep – just checked and if you go to gallery.bmannconsulting.com you get redirected to his flickr photo page) because he moved everything onto Flickr. I didn’t understand this at all…why pay for something that you can do for yourself for free?!
