Flight Test Coming Up…

Went out with Brad on Friday afternoon to finish up my required instrument time and to practice forced and precautionary approaches. To be honest, the first one of each that I did, sucked big time! Not too sure what was going on, I guess I was trying to rush through them or something. I was being very indecisive when it came to picking a field too. It was somewhat frustrating.

After the brutal time I had with the forced and precautionaries, we did a diversion. I had to get from Fitzroy Harbour to Wilson’s Corners. That actually went quite well, I found Wilson’s Corners without too much trouble, but it did take me quite a while to figure out what heading to fly. The other thing I didn’t consider was the MOCA for when we got over the Gatineau Hills.

On our way back into Ottawa Brad had me do a soft field landing. Towards the end of my approach, the plane was sort of drifting off to the left of the runway so I had to get it back over to the right before touching down. The touch down wasn’t quite a soft field technique and well…Brad wasn’t too impressed. Not a great way to end the day. I was pretty much bummed out after this flight and Brad could tell.

At any rate, Brad did call up Bill to set up my flight test. Bill was busy and said he would call him back. I’ve got a plane booked for Friday, Nov 26th and if that doesn’t work out, I’ve got one booked for Tuesday, Nov 30th. I’ve also got a plane booked for Wednesday, Dec 1st, just in case…

What I’m trying to do now is get my last cross country in before my flight test, that way once the flight test is over (and I pass it of course) then everything can be signed off and I’m good to go. Otherwise, if I don’t get my cross country in before the flight test, then I still have to get that done before I get my license.

Anyways…here’s hoping that Friday was just a bad day for me with respect to the forced/precautionary landings. Until I do another one, I think I’m gonna feel a bit crappy.
