Wrote the TC exam today at 11:30. Took me about 2 hours and 15 minutes. It was funny, when I clicked on the ‘done’ button it warned me that I still had time left and asked if I was sure if I wanted to submit my answers.
Here are my results:
Overall Assessment: 90.8%
Air Law: 89.5%
Navigation: 100%
Meterology: 93.1%
Aeuonautics – General Knowledge: 83.3%
Not too bad, although I wasn’t too happy with my General Knowledge mark.
Things I got wrong:
- control input when taxiing (quartering headwind – neutral elevator, not down elevator)
- decoding a GFA (not sure what I got wrong)
- validity period for a weather forecast (I think this one had to do with the GFA too – 12 hours plus an additional 12 for IFR outlook)
- critical surfaces wrt aircraft icing (again, don’t know which question this was)
- reliability of a magnetic compass during a climb (I said it was unusable when I should have said that it either under-reads over over-reads still looking for this one)
- illusions when decelerating without outside visual reference (I said deceleration would feel like motion in the opposite direction – I should have said it would feel like a descent)
- impact icing (ice builds up on the air scoop, carburetor screen and carburetor metering elements don’t remember this one)
- recency requirements to carry passengers (the question was about requirements for daytime which I thought was different from nighttime – it is…but just slightly)
- hazardous wingtip vortices (I said heavy – cause they are strongest when the aircraft is heavy, slow and clean configuration – but apparently that wasn’t right)
And that’s it. Glad to have it over with. I now have 2 years to get my flight test done. :)
Nice work, Kev. Next thing you know, you’ll be buying a plane :p
