My ground school final exam was last night. Out of a class of about 16, there were only 2 of us who ended up writing the exam…how crazy is that! I was really surprised to not see the two Peters who were in my class.
Actually, there were a total of 5 people who showed up, but by the end of it, there were only 2 of us. One guy decided before it even started that he wasn’t going to do it that night and would wait until the final for the Tuesday/Thursday course. Another guy started writing it but quit about 30 minutes into it. Two other guys showed up late and neither of them ended up writing it either, I think one of them didn’t have enough flight time, not sure about the other.
Anyways, it wasn’t too bad. I’m not saying I got 100% (I know I didn’t) but I think I definitely passed. You only need 70% to pass the club exam and you only need 60% to pass the Transport Canada one. My plan is to write the TC exam next Friday, after we review the club exam on Wednesday. I need a letter of recommendation from Brad (assuming I passed the club exam) before I can write the TC exam.
After the exam was over, I went out into the hangar where Shane and a few other guys were working on the club’s ‘static display’ which is an old C-150 that has been gutted (and the wings shortened considerably). It will be used for display at malls, trade shows, etc. I took advantage of the knowledge of these guys and got clarification on some of the questions I was uncertain about during the exam. That is how I know I got at least 1 wrong.
Anyways, I’ll know my mark next Wednesday. If it was decent, I’ll probably post it back here. :)
Well I got my exam back last night. I got 82%. The good news is that of all the ones that I got wrong, most of them were because I made stupid mistakes or just read the question incorrectly. There were none that I screwed up completely, which is promising.
I’m writing the Transport Canada exam tomorrow…
