Well I think I finally figured it out…how to do a crosswind landing that is. Brad seems to agree with me, since he signed that off in my PTR. Now all that is left to do is head back out to the practice area for Stalls / Spins / Sprials and then I’ll be signed off for solo in the circuit!
I also wrote my Radio Operator’s Restricted Certificate test today. I think I got 4 wrong out of 25, so that would be 84% which I think is good enough. I’ve already looked up the answers to the ones I got wrong so I wouldn’t get them wrong again. There was one I couldn’t find though. What the heck is the other emergency frequency? The choices were 243 MHz, 300 MhZ, 500 Mhz and 122.8 MHz. I guessed 243 MHz, but for no real reason. I thought the AIP would shed some light on the question but alas…I couldn’t find it in there either. Andy, any idea?
My next lesson is on Wednesday, before ground school. Hopefully the weather will be nice. I’d hate to have to wait until next Friday for my next lesson…especially now when I feel like I’m soo close to going solo.
The other emergency frequency is 243 MHz, which is exactly double 121.5 MHz, the standard frequency. I think you will find that in From The Ground Up, or perhaps in the back of the Canada Flight Supplement.
So, crosswind landings done, spins and sprials good to go… have you written the PSTAR yet? Let me know when you think you’re going to go solo! I’ll come up to the club.
Signed off stalls, spins and spirals on Wednesday. Got the PSTAR done a while back, and the radio exam too. I wrote the OFC pre-solo yesterday and I’m going up with Dave today as a checkout in the circuit. If all goes well, I’ve got a booking on Sunday so that might be the day. I’ll let you know…
