Well what can I say? I suppose I can start off by saying that that’s not a typo in the title, that’s how they seem to spell African in Mexico.
The day started later than most I think (I’m way behind in my posts and I’m having a hard time remembering everything). I started the day with a trip to the corner store close to the cabins we were staying at. The day before I had discovered these jalapeno chips that were just awesome so I had to go and get some more. We (Steve and I) also picked up a bunch of other stuff for breakfast, toast and the like.
After eating we set out for the Africam Safari. It was located just up the road from where were were staying so we decided that we’d walk. Got there early (the next tour bus wasn’t for an hour or more) so we looked around in the gift shop. I bought a new hat! :) We also got a chance to get up close and personal with some of the parrots there.
Eventually it was time to do the tour so we piled into the tour bus. It wasn’t very busy, since it was a Monday, and so as a result we each got our own seat on the bus! The guide we had didn’t speak english but that was ok. Luisa translated anything she thought was interesting. I snapped lots of pics. At one point an ostrich got just a little too close to me and I ran away screaming like a little girl. Kidding…but it did make me nervous. :)
Afterwards we caught a cab into Puebla city and did some serious Talavera shopping. Steve bought a ton of stuff, and so did Amy. I think Luisa bought a few things too. The name of the shop was “Fabrica Casa La Paz” and it was located at 18 Ponienta No. 111-B just in case anyone is down that way and looking for a good shop. The owner was fantastic, you’d ask him how much something was and he’d quote you a price and then say “$x for you” (x being lower than the first price obviously). Yes I know it was all an act, but it was still fun. :)
After the shopping we headed to Vips for a bite to eat. Good food again. While there we came up with a plan for the rest of the trip. Decided that we’d hire a driver and a van and head to Vera Cruz. So…after eating we headed to a rental place and got everything set up. After that we headed back to the cabins to hit the sack. The plan was to head out at around 6 am the next morning…
