More time in the circuit

Another beautiful day today. I think the temperature went up to around 24 today. It was a bit breezy this morning, but by the time 5 o’clock rolled around the wind wasn’t that bad.

Got a plane (XAM) and did my walk around. Then called Montreal for a transponder code. It was kind of funny, I called, said that I wanted to get a transponder code so the guy said, “Go ahead”. To which I responded, “What would you like to know?” :) He expected I would give him the type and registration of the plane, where I was departing from, and where I was flying to. Oh and also when I was leaving. Next time they wont have to ask.

Flying the circuit

I was anxious to get to my flying lesson today, mostly because I wanted to test out my new headset and see how it worked. I got out of work a little later than I wanted to (because of a call I decided to answer against my better judgement) but I still managed to make it to the club before 5.

When I got there, the first person I saw was Shane, so I had a little chat with him. Showed off my new headset. :) Shane introduced me to Bruce Dwyer who is a member of the Board Of Directors and the Treasurer for the club. I went into a little bit of a rant about the sign up for the ground school and how it should be readily available. They pretty much agreed with me and Shane mentioned he’s been trying to gets dates out of someone for ground schools so they can advertise them. I STILL haven’t managed to get my name on any sort of sign up list. :(

John and Dana get a Domain Name

They got in in their heads that they would like to have a website for their upcoming wedding so yesterday JK logged onto EasyDNS and purchased danaandjohn.com. Notice how Dana’s name is first. ;)

I’m temporarily hosting the site on my server but once JK gets his new computer then we’ll be turning his old one into a home server, using the e-smith server of course. It’s time for me to see if I actually learned anything after Boris got me set up.

New Headset Baby!

My new DC Headset arrived in the mail today, what a beauty! Andy recommended it to me since he’s got the same one and has been very pleased with it. I’m really looking forward to my next flying lesson now, since unlike some people, not all of us have a headset tester at home to play with. ;)

BTW, it’s a model 10-13 S.

I’m getting married!

Saturday was quite the day for me. It started off with a flying lesson, followed by a hair cut (which I haven’t gotten in quite a long while). I got a hair cut because I had to look good when I proposed to Amy!

The Circuit

The weather wasn’t cooperating today and as a result, no flying for me. I showed up at the club at 14:00 for what was supposed to be my first lesson in the circuit but it was not to be. They (whoever they are) were calling for some precipitation, specifically hail or ice pellets so that pretty much put the kaibosh on my flying plans. :(

Spiral Dive

I had to go up with one of the main instructors today. My choices were either Andrew Mackenzie or Gerry Thompson. Andrew seemed to be a bit more available than Gerry, so that’s who I ended up going with. The reason I had to go with one of those guys was so that they could evaluate how Brad is doing in teaching me.

Old Blog

This is a link to my old blog.

I’ve copied over all my posts from Wordpress, but now I have to figure out if I can modify dates on comments…

New Content Management!

Well I thought I’d bite the bullet and try to get Drupal installed and start using it for my blogging.

Spinning is fun!

Showed up at the club a bit early today. My booking was for 5 but I wasn’t sure how long it would take me to get to the airport from work at rush hour so I left work early. Turns out it took me about a half hour to get there. I left Nortel at around 4 and traffic wasn’t that bad. I think if I had left at 4:30 I wouldn’t have made it in a half hour because traffic would have been that much worse. Note to self, I think the latest I can leave and still make it by 5 is probably 4:15.
